This video shows the job of a fiber technician today. Same tools and procedures than 10, 15 years ago.
It is suitable for long haul and metro networks construction. It's not for massive FTTH Fiber-To-The-Home rollouts.
Because it's way too expensive. Maybe the time to re-invent the whole thing has come.
